Architect's Idol

I missed American Idol last night. My favorite time to sit and knit and watch TV. (very sad poopy face) But I did have fun nontheless. We had some friends over to meet Bfriend's BFF from college. He flew in from LA. He is a famous architect who designs fountains all over the world. And he worked with Michael Jackson on a project. He said he was the most amazingly perfect and spectacular human he has ever met. He said his voice sounded like a musical instrument and he moved like a cat and he was smart and well spoken. I corrected him...the most amazingly perfect and spectacular human pedophile he has ever met. Anyway, BFF was nice and the crowd was as fun as a pack of architects can be! Here are some pics of some guests from last night.

The girl on the right runs 10 miles every day. Every single day and has since she was 15. So now she is getting foot and ankle problems. Surprise there! She ate the entire 2.5 hours she was here. Let me say it again, just in case you are skimming this. She runs 10 miles every day.

Then we have the other side of the coin, the woman that hates even walking for 2.5 minutes and refused to eat a single bite of food because she had cereal for dinner! Sorry for the blurry pic but you wouldn't stop moving! You're worse than Purl!

Heres the guy...BFF and Bfriend are staying away from each other cause they don't want to come off as a Brokeback, or anything...he looks like a short William Shatner. I kept begging him to do the two-step and a Priceline commercial. But he wouldn't go for it.

In knitting knews, the first draft of Twinkle Tank is done and I think it's way too small. Perfect for an 11 year old, but not a matronly 40 year old with DD breasts.

So I started it again, this time with thicker yarn and bigger needles. So far it looks like an entry to the Vagina Monologues...

I'll keep you posted. You'll find me in front of the boob tube tonight!

Baby Update

Today the phone rang and my genetic counselor was calling to give me my first trimester blood results. She sounded sad and sighed as she gave me the results.

"Sorry to have to give you the disappointing news, but your blood tests came back positive for Down Syndrome. You now have a 1 in 5 chance of your child having the syndrome. I would recommend that we move your Amnio forward sooner to January 5th. Is that ok with you?"

"So you're telling me that I have an 80% chance that everything is alright and normal?"

"I think that's a positive way to think about it. Sigh"

Once I started crying, she essentially hung up on me. She is about 25 years old and doesn't know how to handle these scenarios. I needed someone giving me the news, to focus on the positive, but she was incapable of giving me that.

So I feel like I'm falling down a well and that Christmas is ruined for me. The joy I was feeling over this pregnancy has been sucked right out of me. Now when I go to the bathroom, I'm almost praying for blood. Breathe, Gina, breathe!

Trip to Claudia Handpaints

Sheryl and I jumped into the car today and drove to Harrisonburg Va. for some Purl Jam yarn. Holy Moley, we ended up putting 4 enormous trash bags full of yarn, bags so heavy we stumbled and groaned heaving them into the back of the Volvo. Claudia was by herself today, her staff had the day off. So the 3 of us collected yarn elbow to elbow, laughing nonstop.

Just wait till you Purl Jammers feast your eyes on this yarn!
Claudia's yarn like you've never seen it. Of course, her famous fingering weight. But also her worsted, her Linen lace, her silk lace, and her mohair. Spectacular color! She must get alot of color inspiration from her tropical bird in her office...Koigu, eat your heart out!!!

Peace, Love, Comfort, and Joy! 3 days till Purl Jam!
